Audi RS 3 2024

The revamped 2024 Audi RS 3 has officially made its global debut, nearly two months after a pre-production model set a new Nürburgring compact class lap record. Contrary to expectations, the updated RS 3 does not come with any additional power; instead, it features a comprehensive chassis overhaul and a range of new and upgraded electronic systems.

Beneath the hood, the RS 3 retains the familiar 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, producing a consistent 294 kW and 500 Nm of torque. This power is directed to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a rear-biased quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The 0-100 km/h sprint is still achieved in a claimed 3.8 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h, which can be optionally increased to 290 km/h. While there are no enhancements in straight-line speed, the RS 3 has managed to trim two seconds off its Nürburgring lap time (now standing at 7:33.123), thanks entirely to the new chassis and advanced electronic driver aids. Key improvements include revamped software for torque vectoring, stability control, and adaptive dampers.

Audi states that these new algorithms have been redesigned to react more sensitively to various driving conditions, allowing the new damping control system to handle higher lateral forces, resulting in improved cornering performance. The collective effect of these changes, along with subtle refinements to the quattro system, centre differential, and torque splitter, has resulted in a new RS 3 that is more neutral and adjustable under throttle, enabling quicker and more composed corner exits.

The facelifted RS 3 stands out from its predecessor with a more aggressive exterior design, featuring a bold black-heavy front fascia, a sleeker Singleframe grille, updated air intakes, and refined headlights in line with the redesigned A3 range.

The rear has also been reworked, showcasing a redesigned apron and tail-light graphics, with a new functional rear diffuser taking center stage. The package is complemented by refreshed 19-inch cast alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin sports a new perforated leather steering wheel and more dynamic RS sport seats, which are upholstered in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre. Additional key features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an upgraded 10.1-inch infotainment system, contour and ambient lighting, RS-specific displays, launch control, shift lights, tri-zone climate control, stainless steel pedals, a black headliner, navigation, a head-up display, and a surround sound system.

Audi Australia has yet to announce the availability or pricing for the new RS 3 in Australia. However, it is expected to arrive in the first half of 2025, with a projected price around $100,000.
